SUMMARY OF ROLE

Tomorrow is looking for a designer with an exceptional eye for detail, digital design expertise driven by strategy, and strong visual storytelling skills. The designer should feel comfortable working independently as well as a key collaborator on Tomorrow’s team.

The role resides within the creative team and focuses on eCommerce websites and associated digital marketing assets. A strong background and familiarity with eCommerce is a requirement.

Projects range from site design, page design, branding, packaging, email design, ad units, social posts, to promotional and product marketing campaigns, landing pages, content design, editorial features and more.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Leadership

  • Externally - be aware of the eCommerce industry on the whole, new launches, technology ecosystem, and the competition - to help continue our drive to a position of leadership in New York, Nationally, and Internationally.
  • Internally - report directly to Design Director, collaborate within with design team, UX team, and Technology - as well as lead your own projects.
  • Be a motivational resource to the design team and encouraging a positive morale from 1:1 meetings, departmentally, and cross-departmentally.
  • Collaborate across teams and within the creative department to continually improve our process where necessary.

Designer

  • Ideate and execute on creative concepts.
  • Deliver designs consistently while maintaining a meticulous eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Comprehensive understanding of our Clients’ creative needs and their strategic and business objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of eCommerce and related UX table-stakes.
  • Opinion on content and storytelling and ability to intelligently weave it into commercial experiences.
  • Make design decisions based on clear creative point of view, industry best-practice and experience, and interest in relevant research and data to support your decision-making.
  • Ensure all designs work across all relevant viewport, leaning in particularly to the mobile experience.
  • Describe designs clearly and concisely in all verbal and written communications with Clients. Confidently engage with new and existing clients and lead new and ongoing client presentations.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • A strong working knowledge of what goes into successful branding, web best practices, photography direction, and overall creative direction and how to manifest this knowledge in the creative output of Tomorrow.
  • Sophisticated use of industry tools and understanding of intuitive and responsive user experiences.
  • Able to work efficiently under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Bachelors degree and 3+ years agency or in-house design experience.
  • Experience in a diverse field of work including web design, branding, campaign creative, product photography, and editorial direction.
  • Deep understanding of industry basic design principles and a passion for emerging web technologies and branding.
  • A deep understanding of how to move from pencil on paper to layout design to pixel-perfect handoff using tools such as Figma, Sketch, Invision, or Zeplin.
  • Expert communication and presentation skills with ability to clearly present work and articulate/advocate design rationale.
  • Collaborate with project managers to best plans ahead to ensure all deadlines are met and expectations are established to the client.
